Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
- Camped for the summer at Lone Rock Beach
- Morning walks with our dogs through the washes and afternoon dog races.
- Attended a pizza party at the Head Interpretative Ranger's home.
- Caravanned in a 4-wheel drive vehicle through the back country to Alstrom Point, a high viewing spot over Lake Powell.
- Spent a cultural day at Navajo National Monument.
- Toured Lower Antelope Canyon with a Navajo guide.
- Took a day trip to Cedar Breaks National Monument 135 miles to the North.
- Cruised 50 miles up lake in a tour boat to visit Rainbow Bridge, the world's largest natural bridge.
- Explored Lee's Ferry where we toured the Lonely Dell Ranch, waded in the Colorado River while the dogs romped in the icy cold water.
- Shopped in Flagstaff, AZ, the closest major city, and atended the Coconino County Fair there, 132 miles to the South.
- Floated on motorized rafts 15 miles down the Colorado River with Colorado River Discovery.
- Experienced monsoon season from the safety of our 30' Jayco travel trailer.
- Rode a single engine 5 seat plane to Bryce Canyon, UT, on to Bullfrog Marina at the northern end of Lake Powell where we spent the day exploring the area in a 4-wheel drive vehicle until the pilot came back to pick us up and fly us back to Page, AZ.
- Saw a double rainbow with the beginnings and ends visible.
- Viewed the night sky through powerful astronomy telescopes.
- Viewed the sun through a solar telescope.
- Cruised the Navajo Tapestry Boat Tour through Navajo Canyon and Antelope Canyon.
- Toured the Glen Canyon Dam and power plant.
- Made it through a long heat wave mid summer that saw temperatures in the 110 plus range for several consecutive days.
- Attended evening ranger programs at the amphitheater in the Wahweap Campground.
- Assisted with a children's water safety kayak program held on the beach.
- Let the dogs go swimming at Stateline Beach.
- Took a day trip to Bryce Canyon, 130 miles North.
- Took a day trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon 130 miles South.
- Hiked locally including Hanging Garden, Horseshoe Bend, Paria Rimrocks and Toadstools and Blue Pool Wash.
- Toured the archives at National Park Headquarters.
- Attended a Thanksgiving in September dinner at the Head Interpretive Ranger's home.
- Survived a "micro downburst" at Lone Rock which temporarily washed out the road to the beach.
- Participated in a field trip with the Rangers and a Professor who was assisting in authenticating a newly discovered Inscription site 35 miles up lake.
- Distributed visitor surveys at the entrance stations to the park during the heat wave. Received a thank you gift for participating in the survey project.
- Attended a housewarming party at one of the Park Ranger's new home.
- Participated in a field trip to the Dinosaur Track Site at Greenhaven and to a petroglyph site in a box canyon 30 miles up Hwy 89 North.
- Followed Hole in the Rock Road in Utah 40 miles to the Devil's Garden and Dance Hall Rock.
- GPS project of dinosaur tracks for the Park Geographer.
- Participed in National Public Lands Day.
- Were honored with a special farewell dinner and gifts at the home of our supervisor ranger and her husband.
