Labor Day Weekend Goat Cook Off, Brady Texas

If you still haven’t made plans for Labor Day Weekend I have the information you need to know to attend the 38th Annual World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off in Brady, Texas taking place on Friday September 2nd and Saturday September 3rd, 2011.  The fun begins at noon on Friday with an arts and crafts fair, food court and children’s games.  Later on the cooks will register for tomorrow’s competition, then everyone gets ready to head for the welcome dance featuring live music.  Saturday morning kicks off with the Goat Gallop 5K Fun Run & Walk.  While the chefs are cooking their goat those who enjoy other types of competition are tossing washers and pitching horseshoes for prizes.  “Come and Get It” from 11AM-1Pm refers to your BBQ goat meal.  Shortly thereafter the panel will judge the mystery meat entries and then on to the goat meat judging.  As they say “No Goats, No Glory!”  Another dance on Saturday night, this one a street dance on the courthouse square closes the weekend festival.  If you want to enter the goat cooking competition you will cook 1/2 of a goat, split down the back bone, supplied by the Brady Chamber of Commerce.  First prize is a cool $1,000 cash.  All festivities take place at Richards Park in Brady, Texas.  Camping is available at Richards Park for $10 per night.  Contact the Brady Chamber of Commerce for more information.  325-597-3491
