Texas Independence Day Celebration

The 173 rd anniversary of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence will be brought to life at the Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site on Saturday February 28th, 2009 and on Sunday March 1st, 2009.  This free 2 day family event is complete with re-enactors portraying such historical figures as Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin and Anson Jones.  Members of the Texas Army will be on hand as you are taken back in time to when Texas was a sovereign nation.  Experience the Republic of Texas era of the early 1800’s with skilled craftsmen and talented musicians entertaining.  Vendors will be at the 293 acre park both days with food and drink available for purchase.  Located between Brenham and Navasota off Hwy 105 and FM 1155 Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site is approximately 1 hour northwest of Houston, Texas.  Fees will be waived for this event.  Three attractions are open year round at Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site.  They are Independence Hall, The Star of Republic Museum and the Barrington Living History Farm.  936-878-2214
