Bonham State Park was the selected destination on our most recent day trip.  Located in the rolling prairies and woodlands of Fannin County, about 90 miles northeast of the Dallas metro area, it was an easy drive once we left the city behind.  This was our first trip to this quiet, small (261 acres) park, which surrounds a 65 acre lake.

The one geocache at Bonham State Park was a pleasant, easy walk off one of the trails and fun to find.  It was packed with goodies for you to select a keepsake and leave your own in return.  Examination of the logbook geocachers sign showed frequent visits and lots of interest in this pretty, well-kept park.  We picked up a collectible coin which will be logged on geocaching.com and will be dropped in another cache in a few days.  In return we left a collectible that we had grabbed from a geocache in Galveston Island State Park.  Bonham State Park has a group complex for overnight stays as well as developed campsites for visitors.  Make reservations if you want to camp here any weekend from March thru November.  During this busy time the campground often fills up.
