White Christmas Day 2009, Dallas Texas

Friday, December 25th, 2009

christmas_snow

The snow stuck overnight and it is indeed a White Chistmas in Dallas, Texas on December 25th, 2009.  Official records show that we have not had a White Christmas in Dallas since December 25th, 1926, 83 years ago.  So for most of us this is probably a once in a lifetime event!  We have about 2 inches on the ground, however to the north and west they had half a foot or more with blizzard like conditions last night creating snow drifts of up to 5 feet.  Our two Great Pyrenees dogs have been playing in the back yard all  morning and you can tell they think this is about the best thing that ever happened in their world.  Merry Christmas everyone!

RV Camping, Sweetwater Texas

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

If you are looking for an overnight RV campground between Amarillo and Abilene Texas, and you are thinking maybe you want to stop overnight before you get to Abilene, Sweetwater would be the place.  Here are two possibilities we spotted from the highway.  We have not stayed at either park but intend to try out one or both on future trips.  At milemarker #250 on the eastbound side of I-20 is a park called Rolling Plains RV Park.  They are at 9909 Interstate 20, Frontage Rd. Sweetwater, Texas.  325-235-8114  At the approximate same location but on the westbound side of I-20 is a park called Lone Star RV Park. 5730 N. Interstate 20, Sweetwater Texas  79556  Exit 249  325-235-1553   Both of these campgrounds are easily visible from I-20 and look like easy on and off I-20 for an overnight stay.
