I haven’t seen that post before. Interesting. That was a couple of weeks after a guy told me his friend was in his yard and heard rustling in the trees. He went over and saw a mountain lion. He ran back to the house and the cat disappeared. Supposedly he reported it and they found tracks. Then we were in my front yard (front is open 10 and back is 10 of cedars) in Cedar Hill two nights in a row, talking about the 2 cute little gray foxes that came to visit all the time. We heard a low hiss that sounded like a BIG hoarse kitten hissing. It may have been some weird night bird or animal I don’t know about, but it sounded like a cat. It changed positions, but it didn’t immediately run away. A few days later he claimed he saw him south of Cedar Hill along side of highway 67 eating roadkill late at night, so then I dismissed everything else he had said. I thought they pretty much only ate what they killed, and he should run from traffic. But I still heard something those two nights. It wasn’t a roar or a scream, but a cat hiss and it moved across the yard or down the street. Now I’m in Johnson county and I check the trees constantly!

I am a regular visitor to Cedar Hill State Park and assistant trail steward for the bike trails. I was in the park on January 29, 2009 around 5:30 PM when I spotted a small mountain lion at the creek/road intersection near the Duck Pond Trail. It looked to weigh about 60-70 pounds or so. There was no mistaking it for a bobcat. Definitely a mountain lion! Beautiful sight to see!
