Dallas Heritage Village, Dallas Texas

The Dallas Heritage Village is a unique look into Christmas’s past of Dallas Texas.  The Dallas Heritage Village brings you back to the holidays from the 1840’s right up through 1910 with festively decorated homes of the time period, costumed living history characters roaming the grounds as well as old fashioned carriage rides.  A Main Street Stage features dancers, choirs and entertainers as carolers stroll the grounds.  The Candlelight Events take place on Saturday December 12th and Sunday December 13th 2009 from 3PM until 9PM.  Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for children 4-12 years of age and $8 for seniors.  Receive a $2 per ticket discount by ordering your tickets in advance on-line.  Onsite self parking is $5 per car.  Carriage rides are $4 per person, per ride.  An all you can eat holiday buffet is available for $12.95 adults, $10 for seniors and $7.50 for kids 8 years of age and younger.  On Thursday, December 10th 2009 a special day for seniors will take place from 10AM-2PM.  Admission to the seniors day is $5 or $12.95 if you wish to pre-order a boxed lunch to enjoy that day.  Parking is free of charge on seniors day.

Prairie Lights, Grand Prairie Texas

More than 4 million lights will dazzle you this Christmas Season on a 2 mile drive through Lynn Creek Park near Dallas, Texas.  A City of Grand Prairie event, this light extravaganza begins on Thanksgiving night 2009 and lasts through December 31st, 2009.  The entrance fee is $15 per car Monday through Thursday and $20 per car on Friday and Saturday and includes up to 8 people per vehicle.  Limos, shuttle vans and commercial busses can expect to pay higher entrance fees.  Mid-way through your drive you will come upon the Holiday Village.  You may stop here for the Holiday Magic Light Show and a Walk Through the Forest of Lights.  The Holiday Magic Light Show is a 10 minute show in a theatre setting.  Admission to the Holiday Magic Light Show or the Walk Through Forest  is $3 per adult and $2 per child.  A combination ticket for both attractions is $5 per adult and $3 per child.  Allow 45 minutes for the drive through the park during the week with light traffic.  Allow 1 1/2 hours if you include a stop at the Holiday Village.  Allow a full extra hour if you are touring the park on the weekends.  The Prairie Lights are on display at Lynn Creek Park, 5700 Lake Ridge Parkway, Grand Prairie Texas.  75052  Prairie Lights.org

The Trains At NorthPark, Dallas Texas

More than 40 vintage locomotives travel across America on more than 2,500 feet of track at the NorthPark Center in Dallas, Texas this Christmas season.  The magical journey chugs by the Golden Gate Bridge and Mount Rushmore, winds it’s way through the center of America including Dallas, Texas and on to the Statue of Liberty and Washington D.C. including the White House.  The Trains At NorthPark exhibit runs from November 21st, 2009 through January 3rd, 2010.  It is located at the NorthPark Center, 8687 North Central Expressway in Dallas, Texas on the 1st floor between Dillard’s and Macy’s.  The Trains at NorthPark is open from 10AM-9PM every day  but Sunday when they are open from 12Noon-6PM.  They are closed on Christmas Day.  On Christmas Eve they will close at 4PM and on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day they will close at 6PM.  Admission to The Trains at NorthPark is $6 for adults and $3 for children 2 thru 12 years as well as seniors 65 years of age and older.  Pick up a discount coupon good for $1 off the price of a regular admission at your local Tom Thumb Store.  Proceeds from The Trains at NorthPark benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

ICE! at the Gaylord Texan Resort, Grapevine Texas

 ICE! and a Lone Star Christmas are being celebrated at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine Texas through January 3rd, 2009.  A 50 foot rotating tree is the centerpiece as 1.2 million Christmas lights twinkle and dazzle you in the decorated atriums.  15,000 Christmas ornaments are displayed as well as electric trains and a life size gingerbread house.  Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be on hand with their team of live reindeer.  Strolling entertainers will delight you as you make your way to the featured exhibit ICE!.  Occupying 14,000 sq ft more than 2 million lbs of ice have been hand carved into delightful sculptures such as Old Man Winter, a wondrous Nativity scene, an ice forest, ice slides and a life size Santa Claus lap for a chilly photo op.  ICE is kept at a steady 9 degrees so dress warmly for your tour.  Ticket prices range from $20-$23 for adults, $18-$20 for seniors age 55 and up and military, $10-$12 for children 4-12 years of age with children under the age of 3 years admitted free.  ICE is open Friday and Saturday from 10AM-10PM.  Sunday through Thursday ICE is open from 10AM-9PM.  Discount coupons of $3 off admission Sunday thru Friday on selected Coca Cola products.  gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-texan
