Days of Old Celebration, Cedar Hill State Park Texas

The 8th annual Days of Old Celebration will take place at Cedar Hill State Park on Saturday the 18th of October 2008 from 10AM-4PM.  Weavers, spinners, wood carvers and a blacksmith will be on the grounds of the historic Penn Farm at the Cedar Hill State Park demonstrating these not to be forgotten crafts from the past.  Antique farm equipment actually used during the 100 year period Penn Farm was an active, working farm will be on display.  There will be wagon rides, and carnival booths and games for kids of all ages.  Food and drink will be available for purchase.  Admission is free however a donation of $2 per person or $5 per family is suggested to help support the activities of the Friends of Cedar Hill State Park.  For more information call 972-291-3900×232.  Cedar Hill State Park is an 1826 acre urban nature preserve located on the shores of the 7500 acre Joe Pool Reservoir just 10 miles from Dallas, Texas.

Octoberfest 2008, Southlake Texas

Oktoberfest 

The city of Southlake is holding it’s 7th annual Octoberfest Friday October 3rd through Sunday October 5th.  This three day event is free and parking is free.  The festival features arts and crafts booths (handmade items only) the popular weiner dog race on Saturday Oct 04 at 11AM for the canines and a bratwurst and nugget eating contest for the humans.  There will be a special area for children’s activities, food, live entertainment and of course German beer.  The Southlake Octoberfest will be open on Friday the 3rd of October from 5PM-11PM, on Saturday the 4th of October from 10AM-11PM and Sunday the 5th of October from 12Noon-5PM.  More than 50,000 people are expected to attend.  www.southlakechamber.org
